Bless Your Heart! It’s a Southern Wedding Y’all!

There’s nothing like the South…a place where sweet tea and mama’s homemade peach pie are always easy to find.  The people are warm, the words are drawn out and no acceptable woman leaves the house without her lipstick on (or at least that’s what my momma taught me!)

As two Southern ladies, Katherine and I have always loved Southern traditions so it goes without saying that we love to throw a good Southern wedding! But it doesn’t take a Southern girl to want to be a part of the Southern way…We especially love throwing Southern styled weddings for our destination brides from the North!  It’s like giving them a little piece of the South tied up in a pretty pink seersucker bow!

Below are some of our favorite wedding ideas and photos that remind us of the South and why we love it so much!

The Bow Tie, adorned by many a Southern man, is a wonderful touch to any daytime wedding!  We love these from Upper French

Nothing says the South like a warm pie and this assortment of mini-pies are a PERFECT Southern touch!  We especially love the labels!

Although the hat has always been a trend for weddings, it it truly making a comeback (Thank you Kate Middleton!) and we couldn’t be happier!  You can find guests and the bridal party with hats on at any wedding no matter where you go, but especially in the South!

Who doesn’t think of a cold Mint Julep on a hot Summer day, as a staple of the deep South.  They are not only a beautiful touch to any wedding, but also a very tasty choice for a Spring or Summer wedding!

Seersucker is something that any girl would love to see on her Southern man (and I am a lucky girl because my Northern man can rock a seersucker suit while in his new hometown, Charleston, SC) but how about a seersucker wedding dress?  We ADORE this one that we found in the latest issue of Southern Weddings Magazine!  What a fabulous photo shoot as well!

Last but certainly not least is an up and coming trend for 2012….Enter The Biscuit Bar.  This fabulous idea can be part of a day or night wedding with an array of biscuits, jellies and butters decorating the table.  What a simply adorable idea!

Happy Planning Y’all!

Drive Away Into Happily Ever After!

Lauren and I love the idea of our newly married couples driving (or riding) away into “Happily Ever After!” in a fabulous motorcar or carriage. From Limos to Bentleys to Horses the style options are endless! You can personalize your “drive away” car to fit you and your groom. We have had our BBSE couples ride away to their honeymoons in everything from horse drawn carriages to vintage Mustangs and we always love finding out what our couples will pick for their drive.

Here are some of our favorite modes of transportation to make your first drive as a married couple perfect!

Horse and Carriage! Ok, so it doesn’t have a motor, but if it worked for Cinderella and Kate Middleton, it has to be good! Who can resist a nice carriage ride? Not these chicks! Not only are they romantic but they are also eco friendly.

A Vintage VW Beetle! These are crazy popular to rent for your wedding day in Europe!

The Eco Friendly! For our Modern Tree Hugging Couples there are so many options, but sometimes you have to get his and hers for everyone to fit!

We believe style should last from the beginning of the wedding up until the very end and for us classic vintage is the best! After all if it worked for Princess Grace, it should work for you on your special day!

Our favorite motorcar rental company right now is based in Little Rock, Vintage Motorcars owned by Rob Haynie. We adore his 1939 and 1940 Cadillacs because classic style is always in! LOVE! LOVE! LOVE!

Here is his 1939 LaSalle in white- GORGEOUS!

And his 1940 Cadillac in black is yummy! I wonder if he would chauffeur us to our wedding appointments in this?

Happy Driving!

It’s A Favorite Trend: Fun Guest Books!

We have all seen them, the average same old guest book where you sign your name on a line in a book and you know that the host will NEVER look at it again. It will just sit on a shelf and collect dust. But not anymore! Gone are the days of guest book boredom! There are so many fun new ways to present the guest book for your party that we couldn’t help but share some of our BBSE favorites!

A Thumbprint Tree! We love this! Your guests leave their thumbprint and their signature in the shape of a beautiful tree. Of course, you need to have handy wipes close for them to clean off their hands afterwards but the result is an adorable print that you get to put on the wall and keep as a memento of your wedding forever.

A Typewriter! This is great for the vintage bride! You guests use it to leave their wedding well wishes and the actual typewriter can also be part of your decor.

A Wishing Tree! Another fun type of “book” to use within your party decoration design. With the Wishing Tree guests leave the bride and groom notes of good tidings and hang them on the branches of the tree.

An Envelope Book! Very DIY, this guest book can be easily made from a scrapbook and pretty small envelopes. Your guests leave notes in the envelopes and it is like a surprise every time you open one!

Puzzle Pieces! Each guest signs a piece of the puzzle and in the end you place them together to create a whole. This can be great for the newlywed’s wall decoration as well! So cute!

And last but not least! The PHOTOBOOTH! Definitely the most popular, this is the most interactive of all the guest books. Guests leave you a picture and a note and then get to take one home as well! And you can even theme the photobooth and provide costumes as well! So much fun!

Happy Planning!
